The real Ted Kennedy

Thursday, August 27, 2009

I can't watch any of the cable news networks today because of their non stop coverage of Ted Kennedy, as if he were some kind of god or something, when actually, the truth is that this man did a lot to harm this country, not to mention the fact that because he was a Kennedy he got away with murdering Mary Jo Kopechne. Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

This was a man who made a name for himself by taking money from those who work and earn money and giving it to those who don't. Yet I wonder if he will be leaving any money to the little guy in his will. I doubt it. He was good at taking money from hard working Americans, but he made damn sure that he could keep his millions which of course originally came from his Nazi sympathizer father's illegal bootlegging during prohibition.

Kennedy does not deserve the breathless non stop coverage that the networks are giving him. He had the personal character of a turnip. He was well known for drinking binges and during such events he often turned mean and vindictive. One such infamous case was the "waitress sandwich" affair where he and his drinking buddy Chris Dodd made total fools of themselves. They made improper sexual advances toward a waitress and then paid her off to buy her silence on the matter. You see, if you are a Kennedy, you can get away with things like that. Remember when his nephew Steven Smith got away with premeditated rape? You or I would would have been fried for the same thing.

Ted Kennedy was a drunk and a coward and his political leanings were not in the best interest of this country. So I think it's fitting that the Democrats name their government health care takeover after him. A boondoggle like that is typical of the type of harm to this country which was often inflicted upon us by that so-called "liberal lion" of the Senate.

If you can name one good thing that Kennedy did while he was in office please let me know because I can't think of one. He rode sympathy over the untimely deaths of his brothers for all he could get. Based upon his Kennedy name, he was elected to the Senate at age thirty even though he had no visible qualifications for the job other than that he was a Kennedy. Then he tenaciously held on to the seat until his death, wreaking destruction all the while.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with expressing condolences to the Kennedy family. After all, the patriarch of their family has died, and it's a well established tradition to respect the dead. So I respect his death while at the same time I recognize what a terrible person he really was, both in his personal life and with the terrible things that he did to this country.

The Justice Dept.'s war on heroes

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Appointing a prosecutor to harass CIA interrogators exposes this administration's priorities: The global war on terror takes a back seat to terrorizing some of America's most selfless warriors.

(snip)

If you look closely, you can see insidious attempts to weaken Americans' post-9/11 resolve to win against Islamist terrorism, no matter what it cost or how long it took.

Pentagon staff members were informed a mere two months after President Obama's inauguration, for instance, that we were no longer engaged in a "global war on terror"; what America was now waging was an "overseas contingency operation."
http://tinyurl.com/kmgoo9

The true colors of the Obama Administration are showing loud and clear. Patriotic Americans from the CIA who did their duty to protect the United Sates after the 9/11 attacks are now being demonized by Obama and his cronies and will no doubt eventually be put in jail.

Meanwhile how will the CIA possibly be able to do it's work under such a cloud? In the fearful times immediately after 9/11 it was pretty much assumed that another attack was imminent. That was the atmosphere that CIA interrogates were working under. If any excesses were committed, it was with good intentions and desire to protect the American people from more terrorist attacks. But rather than thanking these heroes for those good works, Obama and company want to throw them in jail.

And the spineless Obama doesn't even have the courage to stand up and take credit for this ill founded Justice department investigation. He is hiding behind his Attorney General Eric Holder.

My oh my has this great nation been totally demoralized under Obama's reign of incompetency. Before he gets through with us, he will have made Jimmy Carter's failed presidency look like a picnic.

This is Dick Cheney's statement on this sorry state of affairs.
The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.
http://tinyurl.com/l5rwux

This nation stood proud and strong under Bush/Cheney. But now those times seem only like a distant memory.

Everybody needs to see this video

Newt Gingrich is on message with this video recorded last June. He explains why the Obama Administration's policies have headed this country in the wrong direction. As Newt said, if this keeps up Obama will have ruined our economy in the same way that Jimmy Carter did. But this time unfortunately there is no Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings to get things back on track. Or is there? What about Newt for president in 2012? The more I think about that the more I like it.

Changes at MFTBL

Saturday, August 22, 2009

I recently changed the bit rate for my Internet radio station, Music from the Blue Light. For about the past 18 months I have been broadcasting at 128 kbps. However, I received feedback from several listeners who said that they don't have enough bandwidth for 128 kbps. They requested that I reduce the bandwidth. So I decided to revert to 64 kbps MP3Pro.

Now it's been about a month and so far it looks like the transition has been a success. My station's TLH (total listening hours) went up more than 12% in the past thirty days, and the station's overall rank at Live365 went from 92 to 79. That is quite an improvement and I'm happy about it. The following graph shows the station's progress. I had thought that in this day and age most people would have enough bandwidth to handle 128 kbps, but now that I think about perhaps it's people with mobile devices such as smart phones who have enough bandwidth for 64 kbps but not 128. Also, one of the listeners who requested that I cut back the bit rate said that they have satellite Internet and that their speed really suffered during the evening hours.

I had originally decided to go with 128 kbps because generally speaking the higher the bit rate the better the sound quality. But since I reverted to 64 kbps I have started to use the MP3Pro codec which allows a 64 kbps stream to sound every bit as good as 128 if you are using a media player that supports MP3Pro streams. And besides that even if your media player doesn't support MP3Pro yet, it still doesn't sound half bad to my ears anyway.

With Internet radio it has a lot to do with having good quality speakers or a good set of headphones. If you have either of those then a 64 kbps stream would probably sound better on good speakers than higher bit rates sound on cheap poor quality speakers.

Another advantage of MP3Pro is that it allows the use of lower bit rates which translates into less bandwidth being used by the listener. With more and more ISP's imposing bandwidth caps, that's a good thing.

If you haven't ever listened to MFTBL, I wish you'd give it a try. I play mostly easy listening music and standards from the 40's, 50's, and 60's with a few standards performed by contemporary artists thrown in for good measure.

Sarah Palin has been telling the truth all along

Thursday, August 20, 2009

Remember just recently when Governor Palin brought up the death panel issue? It set off a firestorm on the left. They called her a kook. But of course Sarah was telling the truth. The reason why the left and their allies in the mainstream media beat up on her so much is because they are afraid of her and they are afraid of her popularity with ordinary Americans.

So now today we have this article written by Jim Towey from the Wall Street Journal which Governor Palin alluded to on her Facebook page.
If President Obama wants to better understand why America's discomfort with end-of-life discussions threatens to derail his health-care reform, he might begin with his own Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He will quickly discover how government bureaucrats are greasing the slippery slope that can start with cost containment but quickly become a systematic denial of care.

Last year, bureaucrats at the VA's National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, "Your Life, Your Choices." It was first published in 1997 and later promoted as the VA's preferred living will throughout its vast network of hospitals and nursing homes. After the Bush White House took a look at how this document was treating complex health and moral issues, the VA suspended its use. Unfortunately, under President Obama, the VA has now resuscitated "Your Life, Your Choices."

(snip)

"Your Life, Your Choices" presents end-of-life choices in a way aimed at steering users toward predetermined conclusions, much like a political "push poll." For example, a worksheet on page 21 lists various scenarios and asks users to then decide whether their own life would be "not worth living."
http://tinyurl.com/of6b56

So there you have it. The Veterans Administration tries to talk veterans into refusing life saving medical care as they make end-of-life decisions. It can't be any more clear than that. If that's not a death panel then I don't know what is. Thank you Sarah Palin for telling the truth and warning us about what the left has in store for us if they get their way.

Is this what you want to happen? Remember that the Veterans Administration provides medical care to veterans. It is government run health care, and now Obama and the Democrats want to bring government run health care to all of us. Pretty soon if they prevail we will all be in the same pickle that veterans are in.

And of course veterans have other problems with their health care such as long waiting periods for treatment and substandard government run hospitals. This is what we all have in store for us unless we can stop the Democrats now.

Their latest tactic is to divide their so-called health care reform into more than one bill. But don't be fooled by that. It's just a shell game designed to divide us and confuse us, but the aim is still the same, governemt run health care for all.

Are the Democrats listening to the outpouring of opposition to their schemes coming from the American people? No, they are not. And of course that's typical for sleazy Democrats. They think they know better than we do what is best for us, and they are determined to ram this debacle down our throats whether we like it or not.

2012 can't come soon enough.

Al-Qaeda warns of 'spectacular attacks' on UK

Monday, August 17, 2009

London. In an astounding revelation, Al-Qaeda extremists have claimed that home-grown terrorists are plotting to attack targets in Britain.

According to reports, in an internet magazine read by thousands of Islamic extremists Al-Qaeda has labeled Britain and Europe as a bigger enemy than the United States.

It further says that the strikes are being planned by terrorists living in Britain and others overseas, and warns of “spectacular attacks.
http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/

Some elements of this story surprise me and some do not. Why have Britain and Europe suddenly become a bigger enemy than the United States? I don't know the answer to that. However, I am not surprised that attacks against Britain are imminent. I would take the Al-Qaeda extremists at their world on that one.

So then question then arises, "what are the authorities in the UK going to do about it?" Of course, perhaps their intelligence agencies are already on this case. Obviously, if they are they are not going to say so. But on the other hand, are authorities in the UK too caught up in political correctness to be able to take effective action to stop this threat? Only time will tell.

But one thing is clear. The war on Islamic terrorism is far from over, even though the Obama Administration now refuses to use the term "war on terror" anymore.

Barack Obama is speaking out of both sides of his mouth on this one. In his appearance before the VFW today he appeared positively hawkish. What a contrast that was to his recent appearance in Egypt when he kissed ass and apologized for this country's foreign policy.

I continue to believe that Obama is a Muslim sympathizer dating back to the days when he attended a Muslim school in Indonesia as a youth. His hawkish words at the VFW in my opinion won't fool anyone. Like they always say, "actions speak larger than words." So I am not going to trust the very same person who has shut down the war on terror in the interest of political expediency and political correctness and his desire not to offend anything Muslim even if it means compromising the safety of Americans.

Dick Cheney was right when he said that Obama has made America less safe. Let's just hope and pray that we Americans don't find that out the hard way. Perhaps the UK is next on the terrorists' list, or maybe not. Maybe their threats against the UK are just a diversion.

A good example of what would happen in the case of a Palestinian state

Saturday, August 15, 2009

We all hear the frantic calls for the creation of a so-called Palestinian state. And of course one of the main cheerleaders for that concept is none other than Barack H. Obama. So it is quite telling to read the following news report.
At least 24 Palestinians have been killed and more than 120 wounded in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip during clashes between rival Islamic militant groups.

Hamas security forces launched a fierce assault on a mosque in Gaza, and the leader of a rival Islamic group inspired by al-Qaida was killed along with many of his armed followers. Hamas officials say more than a dozen gunmen from Jund Ansar Allah, or the Soldiers of the Followers of God, were killed, as well as several Hamas policemen and an 11-year-old girl.
http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-08-15-voa6.cfm

So is this sort of thing that we want to happen in the Holy Land? We can see the result of what is happening in the de facto Palestinian state known as the Gaza Strip. Ever since Israel withdrew from Gaza, which I opposed by the way, there has been nothing but chaos. Militants regularly fire rockets aimed at civilians in Israel, and whats more, as illustrated by this report, they are fighting among themselves causing multiple civilian casualties. But yet we continue to see calls for a Palestinian state. If you want total chaos and anarchy and violence in the Holy Land, then by all means create a Palestinian state.

Contrast the constant violence and anarchy which exists in Gaza with the democratic State of Israel. Israel is a model state with a high per capita personal income level. The standard of living in Israel is comparable to that in Europe or North America. Yet in Gaza they live and act like animals. Rival factions are shooting it out for control. In Israel, control is decided by democratic elections, not at gunpoint like it is in Gaza.

Yet there are those who want to institutionalize the current sad state of affairs in Gaza by creating a Palestinian state. And make no mistake about it, if they did create such a state and hold free elections, Hamas would win the election and then we would have the reality of a country dedicated to the total destruction of Israel existing side by side with Israel. It would be tantamount to Israel's having a sharp dagger pointed at her heart ready to strike at any moment.

And if that happened, woe be it to Israel if she attempted to take steps to defend herself against that threat. Look at what happened when Israel conducted a defensive incursion into Gaza a few months ago. She was roundly condemned as an aggressor. Accusations of war crimes were even hurled at Israel. And all that Israel was trying to do was to stop Hamas from firing deadly rockets aimed at innocent Israeli civilians.

Israel can't seem to win for losing. If she fights back and tries to defend herself, the international community criticizes her for it. But if she does nothing she continues to suffer unprovoked attacks carried out by Hamas from Gaza.

There can be no reasoning with terrorists who call for the destruction of Israel. And there can be no Palestinian state. The survival of Israel depends upon fighting Hamas, not letting them control their own country.

Support Glenn Beck

Friday, August 14, 2009

As a followup to yesterday's article about Glenn Beck, I wanted to mention that there has been a website set up to support Glenn Beck, Supportglennbeck.com. The site provides a link to a support Glenn Beck online petition which will allow Beck supporters to express their displeasure to the handful of advertisers who have canceled their ads on Glenn's show in response to pressure from the left.

As I already pointed out, the fact that these few advertisers no longer appear on Glenn's show has created no financial hardship for Fox News Channel because those ads were merely shifted to other Fox News programs, while other advertisers filled the slots for Glenn's show. (Link)

In fact, Glenn's show remains a gold mine for Fox News, partly because his huge ratings provide a very good lead in for other Fox News programs since many viewers stick around for other Fox News shows after they tune in to see Glenn.

But nevertheless there is a certain amount of negative symbolism involved when a sponsor drops it's spots on Glenn's show, and that's why we supporters of Glenn need to make it perfectly clear to these few advertisers that we will no longer patronized them until and if they return their spots to Glenn's show.

This tactic will work. Remember that there are more of "us" than there are of "them." A storm of righteous anger directed at these advertisers will hit then where it hurts most in their pocket books, and after all, these are profit making companies. So I urge everyone to go to Supportglennbeck.com and take an active role in supporting Glenn and his good work.

It's a typical tactic of the left to try to silence dissent. We can't let them get away with it this time. Glenn Beck is telling the truth about the fraud that is Obama's health care reform, and his voice must continue to be heard.

There is a similar campaign being waged by the left to try to silence CNN on air host Lou Dobbs. We have also seen similar tactics used against Rush Limbaugh. Of course, the left will fail and these voices of reason will not be silenced. It must really stick in their craw to see Fox News and Limbaugh and other conservative hosts pulling astronomical ratings beating all of their competition.

In this day and age that sees the liberals in total control of Washington, it's only through conservative media that we the American people have the wherewithal to fight back and try to save our country. So again I urge you to do what you can to support Glenn beck and other conservative voices.

Glenn Beck is on fire today

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I had to laugh at news reports today that indicated that some advertisers had canceled their spots on Glenn Beck's show on Fox News Channel. When I saw that I thought that with ratings like Glenn gets, if one advertiser cancels another will take their place. And guess what, every commercial break on Glenn's show today has been sold out. That's no surprise. According to the TVNewser web site, here are yesterday's ratings among the 25-54 demographic at 5 PM Eastern when Glenn's show airs.

FNC   Beck: 734
CNN   Blitzer: 99
MSNBC   Matthews: 120
HLN   Prime: 66

Wow! Glenn Beck had more viewers than the other three networks had combined. So don't worry about Glenn. He is doing just fine and he has plenty of advertisers. Good for you Glenn. Your ratings are stunning. Meanwhile, leftist punk Chris Matthews had six times fewer viewers than Glenn Beck. And CNN did even worse than that. LOL.

Glenn Beck is a national treasure. He is right up there with Sarah Palin. Today, Beck is on fire. He is totally debunking that leftist line that the protesters at those town hall meetings are an organized mob. He showed video clips of the type of protesters who greeted President Bush and then compared that with the peaceful patriotic participants in these meetings who are trying to save this country.

With people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck in the public eye, there still is hope for this country. I can just feel it. This country is waking up. The days of liberal control in Washington are numbered. And I think that a lot of liberals know that too. That's why they are doing everything they can to try to silence the American people. But I don't think that they will succeed.

If you are one of the three people in this country who don't watch Glenn Beck already, I would urge that you give him a try.

Personal responsibility and health care reform

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Why don't the Democrats talk about one of the most obvious solutions to the health care crisis? I'm talking about personal responsibility.

If you work hard and get a good education, then you will most likely be qualified to hold a good paying job with a good health insurance benefit. Then you will not be not one of those uninsured Americans that the Democrats keep screaming about. But if you drop out of school and spend your time drinking alcohol and using illegal drugs, then you probably won't be qualified for a good job with benefits and most likely you will be among the uninsured.

So whose fault is that? It's nobody's fault but your own. And if you do exhibit that level of irresponsibility, then why should other hard working Americans who did get a good education so that they could have a good job with benefits pay for your health insurance? Why the free ride? It just doesn't make any sense.

What we are talking about here is "tough love." If I know that the only way for me to get good health care is to go out and work for it, then I think I am much less likely to end up a deadbeat who depends on others to pay for my health care. It's that simple.

And if you are responsible enough to qualify for good health insurance, you won't be a burden on the system. But if you are uninsured then you will get free health care and the rest of us will have to pick up the tab. And of course one of the main causes of the so-called health care crisis in this country is high costs. One major contributor to high health care costs is the fact that those of us who do have health insurance have to pay for our less responsible neighbors who are uninsured. That drives up costs for everyone. And as I have said before on this blog, we are never going to solve health care unless we can stop the runaway increases in health care costs.

Why don't most Democrats talk about personal responsibility as a potential cure for the health care crisis? The answer is simple. The Democrats cater to irresponsible people in order to get their votes and make sure that these people remain beholden to big government. This has been their mode of operation for a long time and it's shameful. When are Democrats ever going to put the best interests of this country ahead of short term Democratic political gain? That is the question.

We have somehow got to stop the welfare state mentality that Democrats and especially Obama are trying to force upon us. The survival of this great country as we know it is at stake. We Americans have got to "just say no" to socialized medicine. Thank you to the many brave Americans who have recently attended town hall meetings to drive home the point that Barack Obama's prescription for health care reform is not what we want or need.

Some Useful Commentary on the Health Care Debate

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Sarah Palin has made her second Facebook posting since she became a private citizen.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/notes.php?id=24718773587

Governor Palin cites several interesting articles on the health care debate in this country. These articles bring out perspectives that the American people need to hear. We need to get out the message about what Obamacare would do to this once great country.

By the way, I just noticed that Sarah Palin's Facebook page now has 701,840 supporters.

Obama trying to shut down helath care debate

Thursday, August 6, 2009

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/

The Obama Administration is urging citizens to report back to an official White House email address when they see something "fishy" about the health care debate. Or in other words, if I am a Democrat who supports Obama's quest to have the government take over health care in this country, if I read criticism of Obamacare on a blog such as this blog, I am being urged to report it to the White House. I wonder if I have been reported yet. This is a total outrage.
Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn is taking issue with a Tuesday posting on the official White House blog in which the Obama administration asks supporters to report back when they receive “an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy” to an official e-mail address: flag@whitehouse.gov.

“I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy’ or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests,” Cornyn writes today in a harshly worded letter to President Barack Obama in which he asks the president to immediately halt the effort.
Thank you Senator Cornyn for making an issue of this. It reminds me of the sort of thing that goes on in totalitarian states where one group of citizens working for the government reports on the activities of others.

Such a program would have a chilling effect on free speech in this country. Our First Amendment rights are among the most cherished rights that we enjoy as Americans, and now Obama and company are carrying out an assault on those rights.

I knew that we would be in big trouble when Obama was elected, but even I didn't think that it would be this bad this fast.

Hopefully, Obama will be forced to stop this outrage now that it is getting attention in the media. After all, he still is a politician and politicians can be made to bend to the public will. Therefore I urge all fair minded Americans to write or call the White House to express their outrage at this blatant attempt to intimidate fair debate on the health care issue. And while we are at it, perhaps we should let Senator Cornyn know how much we appreciate what he is doing to try to defend the First Amendment.

You know, now that I think about it, I think that Senator Cornyn and Senator DeMint from South Carolina would make a great GOP ticket in 2012.

Edit - This story is getting even better. Here is another good article about this whole thing.

Cornyn accuses White House of compiling enemies list.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn, accusing the White House of compiling an "enemies list," has asked President Barack Obama to stop an effort to collect "fishy" information Americans see about a health care overhaul.

Cornyn, who leads the Republicans' Senate campaign effort, said Wednesday in a letter to Obama that he's concerned that citizen engagement on the issue could be "chilled." He also expressed alarm that the White House could end up collecting electronic information on its critics.
Senator Cornyn is rapidly becoming on of my political heroes along with Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint.
